An average yoga class in Sydney today will likely have significantly more female than male students. Along with the physiological characteristics of male bodies, which are often less flexible than female ones, a guy can sometimes feel out of place in a traditional studio setting, and not experience the full benefits of yoga for their mind and bodies. 

Flexibility is not a prerequisite for yoga, nor its sole benefit. Fact is, yoga is the best workout you’re not already doing. Yoga widens your range of motion and activates muscles you might be ignoring with your current lifting and cardio routine, meaning more overall strength and muscle definition. Plus, well-stretched muscles heal and recover more quickly after strain or injury.

As for all you desk jockeys out there, the benefits of yoga carry over to non-physical performance areas as well, like improved focus, lowered stress, and a decrease in back, joint, neck, and shoulder pains. No other form of exercise can compare to how yoga can simultaneously target all aspects of your mental, emotional, and physical health.
